Healthy Teens Going Green is designed to promote better health in teens with healthy eating alternatives. 

Facts: 
Most U.S. youth do not meet the recommendations for eating 2½ cups to 6½ cups of fruits and vegetables each day.

Do not eat the minimum recommended amounts of whole grains (2–3 ounces each day)
Eat more than the recommended maximum daily intake of sodium (1,500–2,300 mg each day) .1,3,7
Males aged 12–19 years drink an average of 22 ounces of full-calorie soda per day, more than twice their intake of fluid milk (10 ounces).
Females drink an average of 14 ounces of full-calorie soda and only 6 ounces of fluid milk.
Parents can give younger children healthy foods, but because older children spend so much unsupervised time with their peers, this has a great effect on their food choices.
Promoting better eating choices in teens leads to healthier adults that require less medical care for diseases like high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity, and more.

Become aware of and think critically about media’s role in influencing their nutrition and physical activity choices.
Build skills that help them make informed decisions about being physically
active and eating nutritious food in daily life.
Establish healthy habits that will last into adulthood.
Build Friendships
Encourage interactive fun on the move activities

With the tools and resources in HTGG Socials, teens can improve their health by replacing as little as one meal/snack per day.  

What will H&GG Teen Socials Accomplish?

HTGG Socials will introduce teens to a new addition to their diets that not only tastes great but will improve their overall health
HTGG Socials teach skills for healthier eating to teens so they will seek out healthy foods on their own as adults. 
HTGG Socials will teach teens how to shop for essential fruits and vegetables for their diet.
HTGG Socials will teach teens about nutrition/ portion control and making better overall choices regarding the foods they eat.
